Greetings and welcome to episode 053. Finding Niche Keywords is a critical step in Affiliate Marketing. Often times, this step can make the difference between success and failure in Internet Marketing.
Today, I extend our discussion from episode 052 (which all started in episode 051) and talk about finding niche keywords to target in a niche that you care about for your first internet business. In particular, we talk about how to actually strike a balance between search volume and competitiveness — this is especially important for affiliate marketing programs like Forever Affiliate.
We also address some feedback from listener Ian about posts versus pages and I offer a special vocal treat as wll.

Episode 053 Transcript
I hope everybody did what I asked you to do last week. Did you do that? I asked you to get something exciting done on your business; I hope you were able to do that. I got all kinds of crazy goofy stuff done and had a really good week.
Late Night Internet Marketing Meet-Up
The highlight of my week from an internet business perspective had to have been my fun time on Wednesday night with the Late Night Internet Marketing meet-up crew. I had all kinds of people there. If you haven’t been there, go on over to the Facebook fan page and check that out.
We had Lance there from Web Driven Income. Mandi Beads from Internet Business Mastery was there. The one and only Dr. Jason Jones was there. Christian and his brother Mathias were there. We had a really good time with them. Kris drove all the way down from Oklahoma and brought her parents. Of course, Damon was there and Shawn was there. John was there. I’m sure I’m forgetting somebody, but we had a really good time just hanging out at the Londoner Pub in Allen, Texas talking about internet marketing and talking about life and just kind of chilling.
Check out the goofy picture on the Facebook fan page…
I really appreciate you guys coming out. We will definitely be doing that again sometime soon. A couple of these guys I’m going to have on the show, they have some interesting stuff going on that they want to talk about. Shawn just started his own business and he’s really killing it. Lance has a podcast. We’re just really fortunate to see what these guys have going on.
Mathias and Christian and I sat there and we were imagining this whole giant empire business based on some stuff that Mathias is into. I had a really good time and I really appreciate all those guys coming out. Thank you very much.
Mark.
Question why don’t you use Adsense on the corn sheller site?
Thanks
Welty
Simply — because my AdSense account got banned a while ago (2 years ago?) and I have not bothered to try and set up a new one yet (that can be tricky). It’s a great idea.
AdSense only pays about $0.10 – $0.20 for that keyword — but still might be interesting given the traffic.
Regards,
Mark
Hi Mark, really loving the podcast. With so many keyword tools out there, could you do an in depth comparison of KC, LTP, and Market Samurai?
Thanks!
Pia — will definitely consider that. Very hard to do with audio and a lot of work — but will give it some thought.
Mark,
How did you find the whois history of the snoring domain? Is there a service to do that research?
Thanks!
Great question — and sorry for not mentioning that.
DomainTools.com is what I use (free).
Thanks for the question,
Mark
In regards to the posts versus pages conversation, I do pretty much the same thing you described. For my Forever Affiliate sites I’ve removed the post date meta data from the single post template so that it looks more like a page than a “blog post,” and I have the comments turned off for most pages unless it’s an article that would naturally lend itself to more discussion.
I am currently trying to learn more about keyword niche and found your site. I just wanted to post and tell you that you have helped me a lot!!!
Glad I could help you Amanda. Thanks for the comment.
Echoing Pia Smyth from above, I’ve also been reading up on Market Samurai. Someone told me the savvy web marketers can do everything that software does manually and more efficiently. True or false? Thanks.
mark – interesting your adsense account was banned. I had one banned as well, along with a paypal account. I must have been doing something evil. 😉 So tell me, is it smart to compete for the same keywords your competition uses?
