The Today Show is at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week, and this morning they featured something called a GlowCap. The GloCap is a smart pill bottle cap that can talk wirelessly to the internet. This GlowCap device can report when it is removed, allowing relatives (or doctors) to monitor elderly people on medication.

This is perfect for my grandmother, who is always forgetting her medication. The GlowCap is a product of Vitality. In addition to remote notification, the cap can also alert users that it’s time to take pills by giving an orange glow, send email, and provide “compliance reports.”
