Well, it's early morning in Singapore. What a beautiful city. I woke up this morning to one of those confusing moments where you are not sure what city you are in, but you are positive you are not home. I hate that.
Last night as I was leaving Hong Kong, I got a message from Josh Spaulding that he had just released his new eBook called $5 Mini-Site Formula. At 17 pages, it's an easy read. That's one of the great things about Josh — he gets straight to the point. In the book, he makes a couple of critical points about how to build a niche site that will generate at least $5 per day in Adsense revenue:
- Pick a niche that has high pay per click revenue
- Pick long tail keywords that you can rank for
- Build a simple site
- Market with article marketing.
This is great timing. Of course, I have been working on my series about Elvis and Niche Super-Sites. My site violates Josh's premise about high-paying Adsense ads, but it's spot-on with the rest of his book. Actually, the Elvis niche was picked at random, but I do hope to generate some affiliate revenue one I can get traffic there. I have hired a writer to write articles for that site — and I need to post about that process too.
Most of the marketing strategy Josh describes is a condensed version of his Article Marketing Domination eBook (which I recommend). I'm using that method to promote the Elvis site. One thing that Josh does a good job of in the $5 eBook is describe how to select a niche using free tools. “Free” is a really important issue for people who are getting started — you can waste a lot of money buying stuff you don't need. I personally have been using Micro Niche Finder to accomplish what Josh describes, but the free tools he mentions to find long tail keywords work great too.
So, Josh's report has motivated me to start start another niche project and report on it here. I am thinking about the credit card niche. Stay tuned.
Best regards,
Mark
I wouldn’t discount your Elvis niche site out as being just a typical site for MMO. I think it has quite a bit of potential to be worked, if the desire and time is there. Community driven sites are far more effective and profitable compared to a MFM (make for money) site. I’ll be reading Josh’s book tonight. Thanks for the heads up on your review of it.
Hey Mark,
Yeah, Josh’s ebook is a great read. In fact, I found you through a comment you had posted on his site. Quick question – what do you recommend in terms of finding those niche keywords. Aside from trial and error and comparing prices, have you found a place that just lists, say, the top 100 keywords by cost?
Thanks Garry. I really appreciate the feedback. I do have bigger plans for the Elvis site, based on your recommendations! I was able to find a writer and plan to crank up a forum over there. Stay tuned!
@WebDiggin — I have been using Micro Niche Finder. I am pretty amazed by the results. The latest version of MNF gives an ad cost estimate too. Spyfu has a list of the top paying keywords on their front page (is that what you mean)?
Thanks,
Mark
Thanks. It was right in front of my eyes and I missed it. Repeatedly.
Apparently I need to go to sleep.
Sleep is overrated. LOL
